A Quilter’s Odyssey commenced business on 4th January 2011. Kate Wright (that’s me, the owner) started with the vision of the business offering, not merely a mix of fabrics, but having at the core a selection of 1800′s Reproductions ranges, Moda fabrics and a large selection of Black and Whites.

The name for the business seemed to come out of nowhere, but the more I thought about it the more excited I became because I could see that ‘Odyssey’ related to each quilters’ ‘journey’.

The ancient Chinese proverb became so relevant – “A journey begins with one step”

As a beginner quilter each seemingly small step takes you on an exciting journey of self discovery. Choosing patterns, fabric colours and visual textures, blending to bring your vision to reality. The miriad of techniques you learn along the way to expand your quilting horizons.

The design of my business card incorporates all this thinking by background colour and texture, quilting stitches and paths trodden represented by the dashed meandering lines. The colours (sand, brown and blue) and font style of the business name all express the ‘journey’ we, as quilters, take over the months and years of our passion.

Enjoy your journey along the paths you choose. Be ‘grounded’ by knowing there are some techniques which require consistency but also move onto the ‘shifting sands’ by taking some techniques out past the ‘blue’ horizon and fly free with your ever expanding knowledge and artistry.
